On September 27, 2001 a fire destroyed the Russ's Furniture Store across from the new Danbury Fire Station. The Danbury Fire Department spend many hours batteling the blaze but the building was a total loss.

Today, on the same lot sits the a new bank. This bank is First State Bank of Ida Grove and Battle Creek's first branch office in the Danbury Community. On Saturday June 7th the First State Bank will hold their open house. Food and refreshements will be served from 5 to 8 P.M. along with drawings througout the evening.
