  State Fire Marshal George Howe issued the order on Friday and it takes effect at 12 p.m. on Saturday, September 16.

    Howe said conditions in Woodbury County are so dry  that open burning constitutes a danger.

    Any violation of the order is a simple misdemeanor. It does not apply to outdoor fireplaces, barbeque grills, properly supervised dumping grounds or burning of trash in incinerators or trash burner which meet state requirements.

    The burn ban is in effect until further notification.  Monona and Ida counties are also in a burn ban.
