More money given to small Iowa towns
WASHINGTON -- Two area Iowa communities will receive grants and loans through the Community Facility Loan and Grant program to purchase fire equipment.
Charter Oak will receive a $50,000 grant and an $86,000 loan to purchase a new fire truck equipped with a "jaws of life" and other extraction equipment.
Danbury Fire Fighters Association will receive a $50,000 grant and a $100,000 loan to purchase a new fire truck.
The loan and grant program is funded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Office of Rural Development and assists poor rural areas and towns in developing essential public community facilities.
