Larson Angus and Charolais The Home of Working Cattle |
This picture shows Nichols Extra K205 which is a bull we used both as an AI sire and a flush sire this past summer. He was added as he provides moderate birth weights and exceptional growth along with added scrotal circumference and exceptionally sound structure. He was mated to some of our top cows to provide both diversity in the bulls for sale and to provide cleanup bulls for us to use on our own cows. We practice some line breeding and we have used Ext and Ext sons and grandsons from time to time to try to accentuate what Ext brings to the mix ie great udders, will to live, and overall superiority. Line breeding is a way to increase the chances that the good of superior animals will be fixed in the next generation. |
The Bull above is Dave Hinmans Image Maker bull. He sires moderate birth weight calves with explosive growth . Bulls sired by him have been in extremely high demand by Montana cattlemen. We will have quite a few calves for sale sired by this bull in the spring of 2007. |
The bull in the picture on the left above is a home raised bull we call 412. We used him natural service as a yearling and then sold part interest after collecting him . We liked the calves so much that we bred some cows AI to him last summer. The calf on the right above is a son of the 412 bull . He is one half of a set of twins. We are considering keeping him to use ourselves . We are proud of the fact that our home raised bulls are competing pretty well with some leading AI sires.. |
The bull in the picture above is Western Edge . He is the sire of the Charolais bulls that we have for sale this year. He is a polled bull that sires cattle that with great dispositions, big nuts , good feet and leg structure , moderate birth weights and above average growth. All of his bull calves here calved before their due date so he also seems to shorten gestation length. The white calves were the same size as our black calves at birth . We have used this bull for two years and plan to use him again. |
We got a lot of calves out of the above sire. He is the In Focus bull at ABS and he was the most heavily used bull in AI this year for lots of reasons. Good calving ease, great dispositions, good foot and leg structure , easy fleshing , big nuts, and way above average growth combined with way above average carcass scores. In short just a pretty darn good all around bull. We will sell several sons in our sale , many out of first calf heifers. |
