Julie M. Wurr is a self-taught designer that uses nature, trends, and a love of the work to help guide her. As a little girl, her grandmothers taught her to love crafts and art. They spent countless hours with her working with a wide variety of materials. In 1992, Julie did her first craft show in Spencer, Iowa, with a tremendous response. This encouraged her to continue improving on her craft. In 1996, her husband and her turned their small garage into a shop, and there she did dried florals, silks, matting, and framing. She began to purchase home accents and accessories as the demand increased.

On March 9, 2000, she expanded her business and opened the doors of Heart 'n Home in downtown Laurens. She credits the help and support of her parents, husband, son, friends, and most of all her loyal customers in making this dream a reality. She loves reading, classical music, cups of tea, and any good romance movie. But she still loves to get her hands dirty in her small garden that produces many of the flowers that she works with. She currently works alone in the shop and is the floral designer and does the matting and framing. She loves the one-on-one time with her customers and being able to create dried florals with the flowers that she raised and harvested. Stop in and say hello to Julie.
